Book Twenty Three

Book Twenty Three
Day Forty Three

I need to start keeping better track of where I get my book suggestions from... can't recall on this one either.

Book Twenty Two Done

Book Twenty Two

A collection of short stories. None of them blew me away but they all kept your interest for their 40 or so pages.

Book Twenty Two Take II

Book Twenty Two (the 2nd)
Day Forty

Alice Munro "Runaway"
335 pages

Another one I have no idea why its on my list. Come on Alice... the first book twenty two was not captivating at all... what are you going to do for me?

Book Twenty Two Abandoned

Book Twenty Two
Day Forty

Russell Brand "My Booky Wook"
350 pages

Got to page 57 and realized I couldn't read this book anymore. I have a lot of trouble reading books written by English people because I need to be able to hear the book in my head and the accent and their wording just doesn't fit for me. And his childhood stories weren't interesting. Sorry Russell...

I think he's a really funny guy so I imagine his book will be just as funny.

James Patterson "Sundays at Tiffany's"

A perfect end cap to my weekend. I love how quick his books go. Another nice read.

Book Twenty One
Day Thirty Seven

James Patterson "Sundays at Tiffany's"

First I just wanted to say how excited I am to be 20 books down. This project has been really fun.

I love reading anything by James Patterson. I am more a fan of his crime books but these are all good too.

Book Twenty Done

Book Twenty
Day Thirty Seven

Marilyn Bryant "Friday Mornings At Nine"
326 pages

It was good... a bit slow at times. Three women friends, all at similar crossroads in their marriages, figuring out what they want out of life. Sounds like a good premise. Take away 50 pages of fluff and you have a decent story.

Book Twenty
Day Thirty Four

Marilyn Brant "Friday Mornings at Nine"

This book was in the new fiction section at the library and sounded interesting.

Book Nineteen Done

Book Nineteen
Day Thirty Three

Antonya Nelson "Bound"
229 pages

I really did not care for this book. I just didn't understand the point of telling the story. There were three main characters and the story moved in between them but I never felt the connection made any sense. And at the end of the book I REALLY didn't understand the point.

*post was written on day thirty four since i fell asleep last night right when i finished the book*

I know this was reviewed in People magazine but I can't remember the review. Off I go...

Book Eighteen Done

Book Eighteen
Day Thirty

Chelsea Handler "My Horizontal Life"
213 pages

She really is very funny. Prudes might want to avoid this one. The title pretty much explains it but she runs through a list of hysterical sexual encounters. Highly amusing...

I think Chelsea is hysterical so hopefully this is a good one.

Kate Jacobs "Knit The Season"

I enjoyed this book. It was like catching up with old friends. I like how she wove older stories in with the new ones. I hope she continues this series. If you haven't read them yet I suggest you do. I think you'll love them as much as I do.

I really enjoyed Friday Night Knitting Club and Knit Two so I'm excited to catch up with the characters of the series.

Book Sixteen Done

Book Sixteen
Day Twenty Nine

Jill Smolinski "The Next Thing On My List"
288 pages

Wow... I loved this book! She sucked me in right from the first page. So nice that a fictional story can make you want to look inside yourself. I don't have a bucket list. But in this story as she attempts to fill someone else's list she can't help but turn her thoughts inward. A few plot points were a bit predictable but sometimes its nice not to have to think so hard about where the book is taking you. It was a great read. I'll keep this author on my short list.

Book Sixteen
Day Twenty Nine

Jill Smolinski "The Next Thing On My List"
288 pages

From what I remember this book is basically about a woman who has no bucket list and somehow comes across someone else's list and decides to complete that list. Sounds interesting... do you have a bucket list? I don't think I do...

Book Fifteen Done

Book Fifteen
Day Twenty Eight

Madeleine Wickham "A Desirable Residence"
296 pages

I wasn't super pleased with this book. The characters were interesting but it seemed like the author chose to capture a bunch of boring days in their lives. And sometimes, in my opinion, books that are written by English authors usually have a slower pace which I don't love. She missed the mark with this one.

Sarah Dunn "Secrets To Happiness"

I liked this book a lot but there was a decision made in this book that I cannot stand behind. I really hate when that happens because its just fiction but it will probably annoy me all day!

Love, love, loved this book. I truly hope my pup felt the relief this dog did when he died. Though above all else I hope he felt the love while we let him go. Thank you Mr Cameron.... you gave me a sense of peace.

I believe this is a dog's journey to find the meaning of life over five different lives. Which means the dog is going to die... multiple times. Not sure why I'm going to do this to myself but I'm a sucker for a puppy story.

Book Ten Done

Book Ten

Jay McInerney "The Good Life"
353 pages

Excellent... I'll just leave it there.

Halfway through Book Ten

Wow... this is actually a little hard to read. It's so well written I'm finding myself right back in 2001. The setup of the book in the first few chapters is interesting. Then when they go to bed Monday night I was expecting to turn the page to 9/11. Instead it turned to 9/12... and why not? We all know what happened that day. No need to go through it again. Great book....

Book Ten

Jay McInerney "The Good Life"

I believe the storyline of this book is centered around 9/11. My father is a Port Authority Sergeant in New York. He lost too many people close to him that day and spent 10 months dedicating his life to the recovery efforts there. I read Jonathan Safran Foer's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" when it came out and thought it was very good. This is my second book having to do with 9/11... I hope the author does it justice.
