Book 211

Day 1199
Adam Wilson "Flatscreen"

Going through new EBook releases at the library and this seemed interesting.

Book 210 Done

Day 1199
Gillian Flynn "Dark Places"

So good! I found myself racing through the pages trying to figure out what happened. Plot is a little far fetched but I'll give her the artistic license since the storyline was interesting.

Book 210

Day 1196
Gillian Flynn "Dark Places"

I really enjoyed Gone Girl so I'm hoping this is just as good... it's the day after Christmas and I'm stuck at the office for a little while longer. Might as well catch up on some good reading!

Book 209 Done

Day 1196
Maggie Shipstead "Seating Arrangements"

Hmm... this author was too wordy. I found myself skimming more than reading when a paragraph seemed to go on for pages and pages. Good story but could have been told better.

Book 209

Day 1195
Maggie Shipstead "Seating Arrangements"

Thought I was going to read Two Kisses for Maddy but apparently I read it 2 1/2 years ago. Good thing for this project! I used to get 50 pages into books and then realize I've already read it. Now Shelfari saves me.

Book 208 Done

Day 1195
Stacey Ballis "Out to Lunch"

Very much enjoyed this one. I love her stories and her recipes.

Jen Lancaster and Stacey are good friends... this fact made me happy. As if I'd ever meet them... dreaming.

Book 207 Done

Day 1178

Yay... another Stephanie Plum book. Love all these yearly series books I read.

Book 206 Done

Day 1171
John Green "The Fault In Our Stars"

So good. When I was about 80% through I had to take a break. I knew the super sad was coming... wasn't ready to face it. Made a warm cup of coffee and stayed downstairs so I wouldnt wake my napping boyfriend while I sobbed. Right move... so sad.

Book 206

Day 1170

Let's see what all the hype is about. I think this is a YA book...

Book 205 Done

Day 1170

Book 205

Day 1157
Wally Lamb "we are water"

Book 204 Done

Day 1157
Allison Winn Scotch "the theory of opposites"

I really enjoyed this book. I was never really sure where we would end up and I appreciate that about a good book.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Book 204

Day 1152
Allison Winn Scotch "the theory of opposites"

Brave girl... she decided to publish her own book. She's had moderate success with her first few and took a leap of faith that she could do it alone.
I fully support it.

Book 203 Done

Day 1152

These books really are like visiting old friends. I enjoyed it and cannot wait until next year.

Day 1145
A.S.A. Harrison

I bought this book 10/30 at the airport. Only read 17 pages on my trip. Today was my last day off before I go back to work. My guy slept a lot so I got through the whole thing. Interesting but the ending didn't wow me.

Book 197 Done

Day 1108
Maya Banks "Rush"

Interesting. Lots of plot lines similar to 50 Shades but at least this author uses regular words for body parts.

Book 197

Day 1108
Maya Banks "Rush"

Thus actually happened on 1107. We had an oil change scheduled and the car needed some extra work so I got through the whole book in one day.

Day 1066
Leah Stewart "The History of Us"

Loved this book... disappointed with the ending. I like things wrapped up in a nice little package. I used to think I wasn't that kind of person but after reading this book I change my mind.

Book 196

Day 1052
Laura Lippman "What the Dead Know"

Took me a while to get back into reading and to get interested in this book but it was so worth it. Interesting story and even when I thought I had it figured out I couldn't explain the why of the story. Worth the wait.

Lazy sleepy Sunday for the guy means I got to read a whole book in one sitting. Love the Woman's Murder Club ladies and loved this book.

Book 188

Day 1017
James Patterson "12th of Never"

Talk about good book luck. You can now only check out books for a week from my library's online system. This morning I wake up all groggy and tired from being up all night reading. I got an email saying this book was available. Perfect Sunday read!

Book 187 Done

Day 1017
Whitney Gaskell "Table for Seven"

This book was slow going for me in the beginning and then last night when I was about a third of the way through it got really good. Fast forward and I'm up until 2AM finishing it. Nice job Whitney Gaskell. Nice job.

Book 186 Done

Day 1010
Jen Lancaster "The Tao of Martha"

This was fun to read. Hard as well because she loses her pup. This past week was 4 years since I lost mine so I could relate. I really enjoy her style of writing. And I get most of her jokes so that's a bonus.

Over 1000 days into the project and I've read 186  books. That number makes me very happy. Time to start 187...

Book 183

Day 973
Tucker Max "Sloppy Seconds"

So this is the leftover material from his first three books. He explains they are subpar to the stories in the books but that's ok. He makes me laugh.

Book 182 Done

Day 973
Elin Hilderbrand "The Surfing Lesson"

Didn't realize this was a short story...  what a bummer! Good story though. I believe this is the character from her next book so maybe a good prequel?

Elin Hilderbrand "The Surfing Lesson"

Love her books... always set in Nantucket. Always makes me smile.

Day 971
Wally Lamb "She's Come Undone"

When I first started this book I was having trouble getting into it. I was reading only at night and barely remembering what I read. I stayed home from work today feeling pretty blah. Barely left my bed and read the rest of the book. It was great. I really felt attached to the main character.

Monday, May 6, 2013

Book 181

Day 962
Wally Lamb "She's Come Undone"

I can't remember exactly what this is about but I know it was interesting. I believe I've read another one of his books and I think I remember liking it. This is a long book... hopefully it holds my interest.

Day 962
Kristin Hannah "Fly Away"

Fantastic... engaging... enthralling... why can't I think of more words to say how great this book is. I really loved it. I'm sad to see the characters go. Maybe she'll write another sequel?

Book 180

Day 953

Day 949
Kristin Hannah "Firefly Lane"

I read this years ago and it's my most favorite Kristin Hannah book.... the sequel came out this morning so I decided to start with reading this again so I can be familiar with the story and the characters. I can't wait to get home from work and start reading!!

Book 177 Done

Day 949
Craig McLay "Village Books"

This book was unfortunately overshadowed for me by the new Lisa Scottoline book. I started reading this on the 2nd and just couldn't get into it. Then I read through Lisa's book in two nights and almost abandoned this book. By the end I was happy to have ready it but there were some definite lulls in the storyline. Can't win em all huh?

Book 178 Already Done

Day 939
Lisa Scottoline "Don't Go"

It was an accident. Lisa Scottoline's new book was delivered to my Kindle Tuesday morning at midnight. Tuesday night I went to see her speak at Barnes & Noble. I figured I would read a few chapters that night and go back to my other book. I ended up being awake until 2am reading and then finished the next day. This was an excellent book. These stand alone books she's doing are amazing.

Day 928
Jane Green "Family Pictures"

This was an excellent book. I'm pretty sure I've loved every book Jane wrote but this one really stayed with me. I finished it late last night and I woke up still thinking of it. That's the sign of a good author.

Another book I am happy to read because I love the author but I have not a clue in the world what it's about.

Wow... I hadn't been paying attention to real life because I was busy Candy Crushing and watching lots of reality television so though I knew a new book would be coming out I had no idea what it was about.

Holocaust centered.... amazing story line, characters, history. Jodi Piccoult is a truly gifted writer.

Book 172

Day 864
Jami Attenberg "The Middlesteins"

I'm excited about this one... I remember reading about it and thinking it sounded interesting. It was on Amazon's "Best Books of the Year" list. And here I go back into my reading phase... I hope.

Book 171 and done

Day 864
Darren Humphries "Goodnight Dear"

The timing is off on this post but here goes. I've been busy doing a whole lot of nothing. Some baking, lots of working... and lots of TV watching. I imagine that happens sometimes to people who read a lot.You go through phases. Hopefully I'm done with that phase.

As for this book I know I read it somewhere between the last one and today. I couldn't tell you when but it was pretty good. I think a free Kindle book... but that shouldn't matter.

True story of a guy who's wife dies unexpectedly one day and leaves him with two small children. The subtitle is The Unsentimental Diary of a Bereaved Husband. He's honest in his grief and mixes in messages he received from friends and loved ones regarding her passing.

Kudos sir... may you find more pleasant topics in your future to discuss.
