Book Nine

Book Nine
Day Thirteen

Emma Donoghue "Touchy Subjects"
278 pages

Another collection of short stories... weird I picked two on the same library trip. I wonder how touchy the subjects will actually be? It takes a lot to offend me but I appreciate a thought provoking story.

Book Eight Done

Book Eight
Day Thirteen

Marisa Silver "Alone With You"
164 pages

A collection of short stories... they were all good. I'm not a huge fan of short stories. I don't want a story to end after just a few pages. Even an excellent one leaves me unsatisfied. But overall it was a good book. I'll read her other work.

I don't at all remember why I had this on my list but hopefully it will be a good one. Power went out today at work so we got off early. I will take advantage of this and begin book #8. Also... through a friend of a friend I just got a HUGE list of books to go through. I so appreciate someone who loves to read as much as I do. Thank you Jenevieve... whoever you are...haha!

Book Seven Done

Book Seven

Chuck Klosterman "Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs"

It was a walk through pop culture. And very like a conversation with Stephen. Thanks again Justin.

Thanks to my brother-in-laws brother for the recommendation. Apparently its like having a conversation with my brother-in-law about pop culture. Let's see what that actually means...haha.

Book Six Done

Book Six
Day Nine

Carl Hiassen "Star Island"
337 pages

Interesting plot but it fizzled out long before the end of the book.

I had this book on my list from People magazine. I think its supposed to be about faux celebs like Paris Hilton.

Book Five Done

Book Five
Day Eight

Jonathan Tropper "Plan B"
358 pages

No wonder the rest of his books were awesome. His first published novel was great. Writing this in the early hours of day nine because I finished after eleven and was too lazy to get the computer.

I'm a pretty big fan of his. I think this was his first novel.

Book Four

Book Four
Day Four

Kate Gosselin "I Just Want You To Know"
176 pages

I know people have very strong opinions of Kate but I like her. It takes a strong woman to raise that many kids. And what people see as her being a bitch I believe is her trying to keep some sense of control in all the chaos. I say Bravo... now let's see if this book is any good. I need a good read after 4 duds. I read such good books all the time. Kinda disappointing to hit a slew of crappy ones.

Book Three Done

Book Three
Day Four

Ann Beattie "Walks With Men"
102 pages

Weird. I think the author thought all of the characters were more important than they actually were.

Book Two
Day Three

Ann Beattie "Walks With Men"
102 pages

The cover drew me in... and how small the book is. How good of a story can she fit into a book so short? I'll tell you in 102 pages.

Book Two Done

Book Two
Day Two

Patricia Gaffney "Mad Dash"
355 pages

This book was pretty disappointing. I never felt emotionally invested in their lives. I remember her other books and trying to read slower towards the end so it would last longer. I couldn't wait for this one to be over. And I didn't even care how it ended.

Went to the library today and picked up a bunch more books. Tomorrow I'll start another one. This is fun...

Falling asleep while reading...

makes you have to re-read 24 pages.

Book Two
Day One

Patricia Gaffney "Mad Dash"
355 pages

I'm not sure who told me about Patricia Gaffney but this is the last of her books I haven't read. I very much enjoy her writing and I'll be sad when this one is over. Wonder if she has a new one coming out soon?

Book One Done

Book One
Day One

Lori Lansens "The Wife's Tale"
353 pages

This book was actually pretty well written. May I point out I won't be reading a book a day. I wish I didn't have to work and then I would/could. I thank G-d for Saturdays when I can sit and do nothing but read for 5 straight hours. The book was a little slow at the start. I wasn't quite sure where Lori was taking us. But probably about 50 pages in she hit a nice stride. I like a book that has the protagonist go through a phase of self-awareness. I'm always a little jealous of their ability to do that. I think I'm a little too comfortable being blissfully unaware of all of my shortcomings.

I don't want to start a rating system for books because I don't have criteria set up to judge. So for right now I'll say I am keeping this author on my list and I'll be reading her other books.

Chose this book because it was featured in an article about books with chubby chicks as the main character that use skinny chicks on the cover. No clue what its about...

The beginning...

Let's see how this goes. I love to read... I always have. I carry a list of books and authors around with me at all times so I can add to it when I hear of an interesting book. I love library books. I love going to the library to get those books. And being honest I love being lazy so this hobby fits me perfectly. I work at least 40 hours a week. I live with my boyfriend of almost 8 years. We are currently knee deep in a house remodel. Budgeting makes for lots of free time to read. No kids, no pets (love and miss my puppy we lost last year) and a boyfriend who doesn't mind me losing myself in a book for hours at a time. So off I go...
