Book 108

Day 467
Janelle Brown "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything"
401 pages

I am pretty sure I read this book... it's the only thing I hate about reading so much. I'm not sure so I'll start reading and then 100 pages in I know exactly what's going to happen. Yes it takes me that long.... embarrassing I know but I can't help how much I read. So here I go... let's see if I have or not.

Book 107 Done

Day 467
Marisa de los Santos "Falling Together"
358 pages

YES! I loved this book... she really has a way to suck you in to the story. I knew I loved another book of hers. That was a great book.... I highly recommend.

Book 107

Day 461
Marisa de los Santos "Falling Together"
358 pages

I remember loving another book by this author. I don't know what this one is about but I'm excited to find out. Getting cold out now and I love curling up with a good book...

Book 106 Done

Day 461
Lisa Scottoline "Daddy's Girl"
329 pages

Super interesting... first book I remember her mentioning Benny without her being part of the book. But this is the third book without Benny and the girls so maybe she wanted to bring her old readers back in. I think there are only 3 books left I haven't read. That makes me sad... but I got a flyer today for her new book coming out in April.

Book 106

Day 459
Lisa Scottoline "Daddy's Girl"
329 pages

Back on the Scottoline train and happily about to dig into another one. I'm sure it will be great.

Book 105 Done

Day 459
Kendra Wilkinson "Being Kendra"
225 pages

You can really see how much she has grown as a person since the first book. She's still ditzy but she makes no apologies for it and I dig that.

Book 105

Day 454
Kendra Wilkinson "Being Kendra"
225 pages

Some might hate her but I think she's funny and kinda awesome. Her dumb blond moments make me laugh and her outlook on life is unique.

Book 104 Done

Day 452
Lisa Scottoline "Dirty Blonde"
354 pages

Ha... I went on vacation from November 23rd to December 3rd. I brought three books thinking all I would do is read and relax. I did lots of relaxing but didn't crack a book the entire trip. Finally picked it up last week and it was another good one. Super interesting...

Book 103 Done

Day 429
Lisa Scottoline "Devil's Corner"

I was expecting the ladies from Bennie's law firm but instead we got an interesting one off book.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Book 103

Day 424
Lisa Scottoline "Devil's Corner"
387 pages

I think I might be getting close to all of the books I already read but the nice thing for people like me who read so much is I won't remember the ending.

Book 102 Done

Day 424
Lisa Scottoline "Killer Smile"
352 pages

Yes! This was a great one... I love her! I'm going to be so sad when I'm all caught up on her books again. Here I go... on to the next one.

Book 102

Day 422
Lisa Scottoline "Killer Smile"
352 pages

OK I'm over spelling out the numbers of books and days...

Another Lisa book... happy Sunday my friends. Lunch for the week cooking in the crock pot, just passed a fairly large goal in my weight loss journey and my vacation begins in 10 days. Life is good.

After a fluff read and an extremely interesting book about the 9/11 Memorial I'm back to read more Lisa...

Book One Hundred Done

Day Four Hundred Fifteen
A Place of Remembrance: Official Book of the National September 11 Memorial
219 pages

I am so glad I was able to go to the memorial before I read this book. It helped me appreciate all the work and the thought that went into it. I highly recommend going to the site and reading this book. I can only imagine how sad the museum is going to be.

Book One Hundred

Day Four Hundred Fifteen
A Place of Remembrance: Official Book of the National September 11 Memorial
219 pages

Wow one hundred books in a little over 400 days. It's been a good year of reading... looking forward to this next year.
I picked this book to be number 100. I thought it was a good milestone book. We were just in NY two weeks ago at the Memorial with my dad for First Responder's Day. He's a Sgt with the NY Port Authority Police Dept.  It was breathtaking...

Book Ninety Nine Done

Day Four Hundred Fifteen
Cathleen Schine "The Three Weissmanns of Westport"
292 pages

It was a cute book. She weaved the characters well and kept the story moving along nicely.

Book Ninety Nine

Day Four Hundred Fourteen
Cathleen Schine "The Three Weissmanns of Westport"
292 pages

Another book on my list that I cannot recall where I found it. A chilly Saturday, the man napping next to me and college football on TV. Happy day...

Book Ninety Eight Done

Day Four Hundred Fourteen
Lisa Scottoline "Courting Trouble"
400 pages

Actually finished on day 412 but I forgot to post. I'm fairly obsessed with her at the moment. I just love the way she writes, the local references and the characters are like old friends. Two books by other people (one about the 9/11 memorial) and then we will be back to more Lisa!

Book Ninety Eight

Day Four Hundred and Seven
Lisa Scottoline "Courting Trouble"
400 pages

And another one... because I love her that much!

Book Ninety Seven Done

Day Four Hundred and Seven
Lisa Scottoline "The Vendetta Defense"
515 pages

This was another fantastic book. Took me a while to get through it as we had some busy weekends. We went to NC to visit family, we went to NYC for First Responder's Day at WTC. Well worth the wait though.

Book Ninety Seven

Day Three Hundred Eighty Eight
Lisa Scottoline "The Vendetta Defense"
515 pages (paperback)

I had a wonderful time at Lisa's house. She has a beautiful house surrounded by so much land... and great dogs. She spoke for over an hour and is so engaging. I cannot wait to keep reading her books.

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Book Ninety Six Done

Day Three Hundred Eighty Seven
Lisa Scottoline "Moment of Truth"
488 pages

Another great one... finished just in time to go to her house in a few hours. I'm super excited... should be a great day. I went and got the next two books at the library yesterday so I'm ready to keep going. She is such a great writer!

Friday, October 7, 2011

Book Ninety Six

Day Three Hundred Eighty Five
Lisa Scottoline "Moment of Truth"
448 pages (paperback)

It's high time for another Lisa book. I'm actually reading this one on my computer. It kept not being available at the library so I downloaded the Kindle app on my notebook and bought it. I am going to her house on Sunday. Yup... that's awesome. She's really funny and I love her books... can't wait to pet her dogs.

Book Ninety Five Done

Day Three Hundred Eighty Four

Cute book... small Southern town and all its dirty secrets. Entertaining.

Book Ninety Five

Day Three Hundred Eighty Three
Mark Childress "Georgia Bottoms"
277 pages

I believe this book is about a nice Southern lady who has lots of gentleman callers and someone is about to burst her bubble... or something like that. Should be interesting. October baseball and reading... I love the fall!

Book Ninety Four Done

Day Three Hundred Eighty Three
Eleanor Brown "The Weird Sisters"
318 pages

I thoroughly enjoyed this book... a true testament to the fact that sisters can be different and always come together when necessary. And they all loved to read. How could that be a bad book to read?

Sunday, October 2, 2011

Book Ninety Four

Day Three Hundred Eighty
Eleanor Brown "The Weird Sisters"
318 pages

I don't remember what this book is about but I like sister books and by the title I'm going to infer there's going to  be some sisters. I love mine... hopefully I'll love this too.

Book Ninety Three Done

Day Three Hundred Eighty
Nina Sankovitch "Tolstoy and the Purple Chair"
222 pages

This was an interesting book. Not only is she reading a book a year but she is mourning the loss of her sister. Hard to read at times... it's a loss I cannot imagine. She also reads books I would consider more "uppity" than my reading tastes. We read one common book "Love Walked In". I loved it... well she didn't. Thought it was too simple or something. It's cool... that's the beauty of reading. There are so many books we don't have to like the same things.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Book Ninety Three

Day Three Hundred Sixty Eight
Nina Sankovitch "Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading"
222 pages

I believe this is about a woman who reads a book a day. I could definitely do it.... and I wish I had a year to do absolutely nothing. I read 91 full books last year. That's averaging a book every 4 days. Can I do better this year?

Monday, September 19, 2011

Book Ninety Two Done

Day Three Hundred Sixty Seven
Kristin Hannah "On Mystic Lake"

Such a great book!!!! Her first book and you can see why she is so loved now. Highly recommend everyone reading her books. All of them! Now.

Kristin Hannah "On Mystic Lake"
322 pages

I believe this is her first book...

Book Ninety Two Not So Much

Day Three Hundred Sixty Six
Aimee Bender "The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake"
292 pages

I've been trying for a week to force myself to get into this book and just couldn't do it. I even passed the one year mark (yesterday) for this project and kept trying. But I have to move on because this book is boring me. I looked her up and I have read some of her other work and I do not believe I enjoyed it. Should have given up sooner....

Book Ninety Two

Day Three Hundred Fifty Eight
Aimee Bender "The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake"
292 pages

I remember reading good reviews of this book but I can't recall what it's about.

Book Ninety One Done

Day Three Hundred Fifty Eight
Carolyn Parkhurst "The Nobodies Album"
312 pages

This was an incredible book. An author decides to re-write the endings to all her novels. As she is on her way to turn in her rough draft she passes by a street and reads her estranged son has been charged with murdering his girlfriend. The last chapters and re-writes of them are interwoven with the story of her son. I'm not doing it much justice but it was really great.

Book Ninety Done

Day Three Hundred Fifty Three
Jay-Z "Decoded"

This was such an interesting book. He explained a lot of his life and childhood. Some sections were him breaking down the lyrics of his songs. Good read... learned some new things about his lyrics.

Today is my 30th birthday. It is also 20 days until I have been working on this project for a year. I was hoping to get to 100 books in the first year. I won't make it but I'll get pretty close. I've been wanting to read this for a while. I've heard good things... even Oprah liked it!

Book Eighty Nine Done

Day Three Hundred Forty Five
Janet Evanovich "Smokin' Seventeen"
308 pages

Ahh... loved it! It was hysterically laugh out loud funny. The love triangle issue plays out really well in this book and the ending was just as it should have been. Cannot wait for the next one later this year!

Book Eighty Nine

Day Three Hundred Thirty Eight

I cannot believe there have been 17 Stephanie Plum books. She's like an old friend I get to visit once a year. I've missed her. If you haven't read this series hurry up and start. Quickly because once the movie comes out I'm afraid its going to turn everyone away...

Book Eighty Eight Done

Book Eighty Seven Done

Day Three Hundred Thirty
Dean Koontz "A Big Little Life"
271 pages

I knew it. I love reading books about dogs but the inevitable end is so hard. This book was harder than most because he's such a good writer. He brought you right into the head of a dog. He also brought you with him when it was time to say goodbye. I've been there and I try not to focus on it but he transported me right to that room. Overall a really good book. Just make sure your tissues aren't far.

Book Eighty Six Done

Day Three Hundred Twenty Four
Kat Von D "The Tattoo Chronicles"
235 pages

Wow this was really interesting. She keeps a journal and published her journal along with pictures of the tattoos she is discussing in the journal. Its uncomfortable to read because she starts out so happy with Nikki Sixx and you watch the relationship unravel through the pages.

Book Eighty Two Done

Day Three Hundred Fifteen
Lisa Scottoline "Mistaken Identity"

Its been so hard for me to keep focused on reading these past few weeks. I've been working on losing weight and between the gym, working and watching all my TV shows I just haven't had time to read. So I finally finished this book and it was another good one. She really captivates you with the story and I love that the Philly area is the background.

I read a book like this a few years ago. I believe that was all different types of people in America writing about the same day. I find this so interesting. You don't think on a good day for you that someone has just lost someone close to them or been fired or can't pay their bills. So many different things going on every day to different people. Life is a crazy thing.

She certainly delivered. A good story and modeled after a big news story in the last few years. It was interesting to see it from another angle. And Nantucket will always hold a special place in my heart so I love anything where that's the setting.

This was a good read. I didn't get a chance to read much this week but as soon as I started reading this morning I couldn't stop myself. Two shopping trips and two meals later and I finished it. Even though I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen I was concerned she would have taken the story in the other direction.

She's also a local author and dedicated this book to a man who worked at our local bookstore who passed away. In the acknowledgements she wrote a little blurb about him and of course I cried. Thanks Lisa...another great book!

In fact, I will soon be reading books 3 and 4. This is 18 (slightly out of order huh?) but its not the series so I'm ok to read it in the middle. Book Sixty Seven Done

Day Two Hundred and Twenty Five
Johanna Edwards "How to Be Cool"
310 pages

This was a good and easy read. I was correct. Main character lost a bunch of weight and dealt with the transformation of life. I related to her a lot because she was about to turn thirty. I've been struggling with that fact so it was nice to read the authors take. In the end her life seemed to work out just fine. Maybe not as she thought but she was happy. I'll wish that for myself.

Book Sixty Seven

Day Two Hundred and Nineteen

Every once in a while I need to read super fluff. I know some people think most of the chick lit I read is fluff but I try to pick authors who write with some purpose. Danielle Steel always serves a purpose for me. Boy meets girl, something gets in the way, boy and girl reunite. Or something close to that. I'm in for an easy holiday read. Happy Easter my friends...

I saw this book review in People magazine. I've been slightly disappointed in some of their choices but it might be my fault. Just because the reviewer likes a book and makes it sound good doesn't mean I would actually be interested in the premise. So I don't remember what its about but I'll give her a shot.

Side note: I realized how annoying it is that I write the book number twice... so I'm not doing it anymore. Not very exciting I know but I wanted to point it out.

I found this in the new book section at the library. That's been hit and miss for me on authors I don't know. The premise seems interesting so we'll see how it goes. I feel a little bad for this author right now. I just finished reading a truly amazing book and that's a hard act to follow.

I did the math last night... I'm reading a book every 3.45 days. I'm hoping to keep that number nice and small for as long as I can. So excuse me as I go start reading... time's a wastin'.

Book Sixty Two Done
Day Two Hundred and Fourteen

Kristin Hannah "Night Road"
385 pages

Redeem herself? She outdid herself... I really don't even know what to say. It was an emotional roller coaster and since I just got off I'm still a little shaken. I cannot wait to pass this book on. I wish it would have went on forever. Bravo Kristin Hannah... BRAVO!

Book Sixty Two
Day Two Hundred and Thirteen

Kristin Hannah "Night Road"
385 pages

I put a hold on this book at the library as soon as I saw she came out with a new book and I've been waiting forever. This weekend I was at the library and it was on the rental shelf. For all the library does for me I'll gladly give them $1.59 to read a good book. So here you go Kristin... your last book I went to read was a dud for me and I couldn't even finish it (period piece... yuck) so I hope you redeem yourself here. Something tells me you will...

Lisa Scottoline "The First Two Novels-Everywhere That Mary Went  and Final Appeal"
561 pages

I was lucky enough to not have anything to do yesterday so I read basically all day. Oh how I love her books... I have other good books to read right now but all I want to do is go to the library and take out the next few. I'll get there soon. These were two different characters and I know one continues through as a series. YAY! 16 more books by Lisa Scottoline in my near future. This project is going to shoot to book 100 with a quickness. At this rate, I'll be done a whole lot faster than I thought.

Day Two Hundred and Twelve

Lisa Scottoline "The First Two Novels-Everywhere That Mary Went and Final Appeal"
561 pages

Just this past week I went to my first book signing. It was Lisa Scottoline for Save Me. I knew I liked her books but I thought she was hysterically funny and really engaging. So here I am starting at the beginning again reading her books. I'm not sure I've read them all but there are eighteen so get used to seeing her name in this blog a lot.

James Franco "Palo Alto"
196 pages

Hmm... I'm not sure where to start. I will say this book was better than most short story collections but not by much. I didn't find myself skimming as much as I usually do. The stories were interesting and the characters appeared in multiple stories which kept it moving. But in the end it always comes down to the same issue for me. I just don't think the depth of character is there.

Book Sixty
Day Two Hundred and Ten

James Franco "Palo Alto"
196 pages

I believe the description I saw was erotic, vulgar, violent short stories. If you've been reading this blog at all you'll know me and short story collections do not mix. I think most are poorly written because of how much feeling needs to be put into such a short amount of words. Some writers think if they don't do so well at a short story that they shouldn't be an author. I bet they would do better when given the ability to spread their thoughts over 90,000 words. The only reason I am giving this book a chance is that James Franco has a twisted brain and I'm interested to see where he'll take us.

Book Fifty Nine Done

Book Fifty Nine Done
Day Two Hundred and Ten

Carrie Karasyov "The Infidelity Pact"
262 pages

From the first chapter I thought this book was going to fall into the boring and predictable category. By the end of the second chapter I was pleasantly surprised to find out I didn't want to put the book down. Good ending... made it interesting.

Book Fifty Nine

Book Fifty Nine
Day Two Hundred and Five

Carrie Karasyov "The Infidelity Pact"
262 pages

I found this book in the carts they use when they are putting books back at the library. Its actually the best place to look since its what is popular. Something about four friends agreeing to cheat on their husbands for a year. This could either be funny and interesting or boring and predictable. I'll let you know in 262 pages.

Book Fifty Eight Done

Book Fifty Eight Done
Day Two Hundred and Five

Marisa de los Santos "Belong To Me"
388 pages

I smiled like a Cheshire cat when I closed this book. It turned out to be the second book so I knew all the characters and the plot line. I loved the story. I think every book should be a series because I hate not knowing what happens next. Excellent read.

I read her other book "Love Walked In" first which was the second book in this series. I read so many books I'm not sure it will be a big deal because all the plot lines end up jumbling together in my head.

Book Fifty Seven Done

Book Fifty Seven Done
Day Two Hundred and Three

Jennifer Crusie "Maybe This Time"

This was a good one... I'm not super into ghosts in books but she did a good job of keeping the story interesting for me.

I've read a lot of her books and I know I liked them. Two hundred days seems weird to me. Though I've read more books than I can remember its interesting to keep track of my reading habits. Right now I have a huge stack of books next to the bed and I wish I could devour them all right now. Stay home and do nothing but read. Unfortunately I don't think that plan will work.

Book Fifty Six Done

This was another really good read. This book moved back and forth between two time periods and the author did a great job weaving them together.

I remember reading about this book on Shelfari but I can't remember what it's about. Even with the little break I took from reading I'm still averaging less than 4 days per book. That's pretty good. At that rate I'll be done with 500 books in under 6 years. Wow... I wonder where life will be.

I really enjoyed this book. So much that I'm pretty sure I woke about at 2:30 this morning just so I could read more. I've had a string of really good books which is nice. I definitely get too emotionally invested in books. I can't help it! A good author makes me want to know what happens next...

I thought this book sounded interesting in the new book section at the library. When I was just on Shelfari to post it I realized I already read a book she wrote before I started this project. And I believe I liked it. So... off I go to enjoy the 55th book. Cruising right along...

Book Fifty Four Done

Book Fifty Four Done
Day One Hundred and Ninety Five

Elin Hilderbrand "The Island"
403 pages

Oh how I loved this book. I truly love her writing. Nantucket was a summer vacation spot for a few years in my family. It holds really fond memories for me and I love anything even mentioning the island. The characters in this book were all going through something emotional... something that was distracting them from having the best time they could. I was so interested in everything they were going through. I'm sad its over. Finished it late last night and was too tired to post.

I'm a huge fan of her books... I've read them all. I don't even know what this one is about but I'm sure it will be good. Tonight the man is out at a concert and then to watch March Madness with friends... so I will read in silence... my fav!

I loved this book! I even emailed the author halfway through to tell her how much I was enjoying it and I never do stuff like that. I remember really liking all her other books... I hope she puts them out faster than she has been.

James Patterson "Tick Tock"

This was another great book... though it kinda freaked me out. His stories are usually frightening but this one was very graphic... I feel like its giving psychotic people a manual. But it did what it intended to do. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't stop turning the pages.

I loved it! I was a little lost with some of the characters because as I said I haven't read the whole series but this book definitely makes me want to go back and start at the beginning. There was a preview for his witch book in the back... just not my style James... even for you.

It was surprisingly good. I know Howard made fun of him a lot and said it was really boring. I figured part of him was joking but it could have been true. I didn't know he grew up in a household like that. I wish he would have talked about Artie more...

Kristin Hannah "Waiting For The Moon"

Well I should have given up on this book a week ago. I love her, I really do but period pieces just don't hold my attention. I wish they did... I wish I was cultured enough to want to read the classics. I'm just immediately bored the second I realize I'm reading a story from the 1800s or early 1900s.

So Kristin, I'm sorry. But I'm crossing this one off the list.

Ted Kerasote "Pukka, The Pup After Merle"

I didn't realize it was mostly a picture book but it was still great. Its a topic I've been wondering about. Merle was his first dog. His fur baby who did everything with him. And then Merle died. Eventually he got another dog. I know I will be in that position one day and I wondered what it would be like. I see now it's going to be great. He still talks about Merle a lot... Merle will always be his baby. But Pukka is his boy too. LOVED IT! I hope he writes another book about Pukka when he's older.

Day One Hundred and Forty Eight

Hello blog world... its been 4 weeks and I haven't read a page. I'm ok with it though because a project like this is going to have times where it lacks attention. It's going to take me a few years to do this I would imagine. Nothing important happened, I had to return the last book I was reading to the library and I didn't even finish it.

Back on track now... on we go!
